The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published its 2010 Eurobarometer Survey Report on consumer perceptions of food related risks. Contamination of food with industrial chemicals is perceived as the greatest public concern. Other major areas of concern are pesticide residues on fruit and vegetables, the presence of antibiotic and hormone residues in meat, bacterial pathogens such as Salmonella in eggs and Listeria in cheese, and the use of GE animals for human food.

This document, with data gathered from 27,000 interviews in all EU Member States will provide important guidance to the European Parliament and the European Commission on future food safety and food labeling legislation.
