February 1, 2014  -  FDA has now issued the last of the "Big Seven" proposed rules pursuant to the Food Safety Modernization Act. The Sanitary Transportation Rule is estimated by FDA to affect some 83,000 businesses involved in the US food supply-chain. The rule will affect equipment, operations, training, and record keeping for shippers, receivers, and carriers who transport food in the United States. It will also affect exporters to the United States if the food product will be transported by any carrier to a subsequent destination in the United States.

We post an advance copy of the Proposed Rule below as well as the FDA Fact Sheet. When the Proposed Rule is published in the Federal Register (next week) we will post the final text.
